call-of-cthulhu:

Ouroboros: a serpent biting its own tail. A mythological and alchemic symbol of the cyclic nature of the universe: creation out of destruction, life out of death. The ouroboros eats its own tail to sustain its life in an eternal cycle of renewal.

Dreamer
In my dreams that night faceless men consumed you in droves: more and more and more multiplied with each wincing gaze amidst my envy and disbelief. I awoke with a lingering bruise of betrayal still nestled in your arms from our last night, our grand finale bare backed and hollow hearted, your gentle morning breath lapping at my neck. And in the nape of my surrender, I was sure that I never once entered your dreams; that our future lied only in a culmination of the past—horny internet convos, hurried first dates, half hearted texts, hazy film screenings—and the present moment: saying my goodbyes as the sun rose, as you slept there, in anticipation of miniscule apologies which never ever came as hard as we did. Not enough space for me in that skull of yours, not enough space for you in that bed of mine, my soul gaping open and empty, an outstretched abyss aching to be filled by impossible devotions and morose fantasies reflected in the bitter black of my morning coffee. And across the room, you continued to sweat out your own private nightmares with a pillow on your face, as if suffocation were a happier ending.
